I finally enrolled in a belly dance class with Ms. Jill Ngo at Peak Performance, Roces St. I first saw her in a Belly Dance instructional video with some actresses. After purchasing a few more videos and trying out belly dance classes with different gyms, a friend of mine mentioned that she enrolled in a class with Ms. Jill. I got all excited because I liked the way she taught the dance steps in her video. I joined a few lessons last year and enjoyed doing hip raises, drops, shimmies and UNDULATING he he he. It is a plus to a lot of curves to work with. Finally enrolled for an entire month, last August and had so much fun! Jill would even explain the different styles of belly dancing as she would teach us her different choreography. I was drawn to the tribal style :) Aside from the lovely accessories, the make up and outfits that came with it, it just looked so beautiful altogether with the snake like movements the dancers would do. Gosh! doing it yourself is totally different! They make it looks so easy! They were not kidding when they said belly dancing makes you realize that you have so many different muscles you never felt existed before doing all these movements. BUT despite the muscle soreness, I really love going to the classes!

An Afternoon as a Voice Talent
My friend, Anna, my husband's co-Teacher (who now works for an ad agency) told me before that she was going to get me to do a voice over for a radio commercial because I could speak Cebuano. Never really took it seariously until she called me Sunday night to go for a recording the next day. I went over to the ad agency she was working for and waited a bit. I was very excited... giddy in fact. I've always wanted to do voice work... was even planning to take a course at creative voices in October and out of the blue she called. I just had to do three short lines, even shortened one some more because the way it was written was too formal, and they were doing a market scene. After removing a few words here and there, I was finally ready to do the recording, I think I needed to do about four or five takes of each line before they were happy with the work. It was such fun! I was a tad bit nervous because it was a first but I was enjoying it more than anything. Just had to pretend to be excited about the product and showing it to a friend, had to pretend to laugh.. which was bit difficult but I think I pulled it off... he he he ... :) another adventure experienced, a few friends made, lessons learned :) ok, what's next?

My Declaration
I started this blog with a very overwhelming, daunting, terrifying goal in mind. I want to suck the marrow out of life!!! I have lived my last 36 years having my share of adventures mind you but have always been ok with just coasting by. I want to be able to accomplish more because I believe God has great things planned for me... for all of us! Just writing this first entry gives me goosebumps, butterflies in my stomach and sends a chill down my spine... WAAAA!!! To some it might be a ho-hum task but I have been "trying" to lose weight eversince I was in high school where I was only 128 lbs. I was made to feel that I was fat... my face to round, arms too plump, hips to wide, my legs were called logs... lets not talk about my breasts. Now am 240 plus pounds and everything really became round , plump, wide. This was not my heaviest though. I was pushing 280 lbs about four years ago, this was when my husband suddenly passed away from complications due to sleep apnea. It really woke me up, I lost 30 pounds since then and have been pushing myself to do more and be more. This time am aiming for a goal which I intend to keep I hope to be able to lose at least 6 pounds every month until I get back to my ideal weight which was around the 128lbs I was in 1989. So how long should that take? If I lose an average of six pounds a month, which I hear is pretty healthy I should be around 126 lbs by February 2010. So far I have cut down my intake and have been eating five times a day (3 meals and two snacks) opting for healthier food. I have also enrolled in a thrice weekly belly dancing class as well as a yoga class every saturday. I have also been telling my friends to support me by having more ACTIV-ities rather than just sit around and hang out. I would also like to blog regularly about my progress ansd especially the fun things I have been doing to lose weight...woking on a better quality of life day after day. There are so many things I want to do, places I want to be and I believe a healthier me will get me there faster :) I would appreciate your happy thoughts for me and others struggling with their own issues, ideas as well as tips. Here's to all of us!!! God bless us all!!
